Day 9- Massa St Lucia (Cesare's house)

Today after spending some time in the "city" of Messina getting a few things sorted out, we headed back up to the Masse (specifically Massa Santa Lucia) for another amazing lunch cooked with food the family had grown themselves!!

In the afternoon we headed off in Cesare's (Sara's cousin) 4x4 Fiat "Panda"- the smallest FWD you'll ever see six people squeezed into!!

First off, he took us to see his house... He will be getting married in October- (the deal is that you don't get married until you're completely set up- Cesare and his beautiful fiance Antionella have been together for 9 years!!)- well, I guess 9 years has paid off because they pretty much the best place in the entire Massa (the view is to die for- looking straight down a valley towards the sea and Calabria!!).

We met his Zio (uncle) in law, another Siciliano character, who was there painting the house in this specialised stucco finish which almost looks like marble- oooh la la! They almost have the whole set-up... The house, the view, a fantastic garden of fruit and vegies... All they need now is the family;-)

Four O'Clock consisted of little details around Cesare's house- the view, the old rusty iron ballastrade (which he said he might ship to Australia and sell it for a profit to buy a new fence, since we were making such a fuss over it!), a sneaky portrait of "Zio" and a portrait of "Cesare" himself, next to his pride and joy- his Fiat Panda!!

Just to prove that it was a genuine 4x4, Cesare took us on the "off- road" route to show us a view of the ocean and to try the best Granita in the area!! He did pretty well considering the poor Panda was weighed down by six well fed bodies!!

Here's a bit of the footage...
