Day 39- Markets, Porte de Clignancourt

Four O'Clock today was captured at the markets found just by the Porte de Clignancourt metro stop (north Paris).

It started out looking fairly generic... Almost like a Parisian "Paddy's Markets" (for all the Sydney-ites out there) but as we walked further into this intriguing maze of stalls, we stumbled on a very interesting variety of bric-a-brac market stalls that sold anything from recycled plumbing & hardware goods to awesome old vinyl records (Exhibit A) & antiques, etc...

The lighting was quite contrasty, so I had fun looking for interesting shapes, shadows and back lit subjects!

I found it quite amusing, seeing what kind of items were being sold side by side... In some spots it really looked as though someone had dumped all their recycling on the ground and thought- "Oh well... If we sell something, it's a plus!!" (Exhibit B)

At other stalls items were placed in a way that, I guess, was to catch the attention of passer- bys... These dolls (below) made me laugh... I can't remember what else these people were selling but I just remember that they were completely non- related to everything else??!!

Exhibit A

Exhibit B (crazy hey?!)

...Later in the day...

We head to Montmartre to check out Sacre Coeur (thank goodness for daylight saving because we're definately not early birds)!! This shot (cracks me up!) was taken on the stairs that climb the hill, behind the church...

The "Paris Pantelons People" (aka Pier Paolo, Wayde, Sahs, Jo, Anna & Quinton)... Crazy kids!

...This evening...

We head to the appartment of a good friend of my parents from the PNG days for a "soiree"... What an amazing evening!

First of all, Margaret (front right, with the funky hairdo!) invites all 7 of us to her little Parisian appartment for dinner and when we arrive we find that she has also invited a mix of friends who were all so lovely to meet!

She managed to fit all 13 of us in total into her "cosy" loungeroom (gorgeous) and we enjoyed an amazing home-cooked meal, as well as a brilliant night of conversation with an extremely multicultural group (aussie, english, french, italian, serbian, greek, american, armenian, african...) from all walks of life!

It was definately a highlight!
