Although this blog has been designed to keep you updated with the progress of my project (just under 3 weeks till departure!!) I thought it could be of interest to give you a little background information about the trip and my co-travellers, as they will most likely be featured quite often in "Four O'Clock"...
My sister, our cousin and I were all heading off to Japan for a snowboarding trip (in January 2009), however for reasons that are no longer important, we had to cancel the trip.
As things tend to progress over time, we decided that as we had always wanted to go on a trip together, "now" was as good a time as ever to book a flight to Europe. So we booked a flight to Bella Roma (via Bangkok and Helsinki)!! We knew many of our friends would be travelling to Europe for a series of international conventions (one of which we will be attending in Rome) so this seemed to be the best way to start the trip.
Get to the point...
Our flights were booked- depart Sydney (August 4th); return to Sydney (October 3rd)!! That meant we had two months to play with. We all agreed that although there would be definite places where we'd need to be at a given time, i.e. when meeting up with other friends who are also travelling, we wanted to keep the trip as unstructured and as fluid as possible.
Thus, the phrase "Fly By The Seat Of Your Pants" seemed fitting for our trip!!
So there you have it, that is how the "Pants Tour 2009" got it's name and now you've been introduced, in a round about way (I don't want to give too much away!!), to the two other "Pants" tourers- my sister and my cousin...
